Q. Is Fort Auto a certified driving school?

A. Yes,  Fort Auto is fully certified by the government to deliver the courses since 1976 in Fort McMurray.             

Q. Are Fort Auto certificates recognized by the insurance industry?

A. Fort Auto is a government approved course provider. Our graduate certificates are honoured by the insurance industry.           

Q. Can I get my license the same day I complete my course?

A. Yes, if you have your learner's permit for at least a year and you are 16 or older. Please book your road test with the registry and let us know so we can schedule your last lesson right before the test.

Q. Can I request a female instructor?

A. Yes.

Q. How much is the road test fee?

A. The Registry currently charges $155 for a class 5 road test.

Q. How many lessons will I need?

A. It depends on your driving skills and experience, most of our students obtain their driver license on the day of their 5th lesson.

Q. Can I request to change my instructor?

A. Yes, please send us an e-mail.

Q. Will there be other students in the car on my lesson?

A. No, lessons are taken on a one on one basis.

Q. What is your cancellation and re-booking Policy?

It is the student's responsibility to read and understand the cancellation policy. If you have questions please contact our office right away.

Driver's Ed classroom cancellation:

At least 7 days before your classroom       No charge

Within 7 days of the classroom                  $220

Driving lesson cancellation or re booking:

Less than 24 Hrs                                         $70

Before 24 Hrs                                             No charge

Important Terms & Conditions – Please Read Before Registering

By registering online with Fort Auto Driving School, you agree to the following:

    1.    Fees & Road Test

The course fee does not include any ministry driver test fee or road test fee. The course includes 15 hours of in-class and 10 hours of in-vehicle instruction.

    2.    Certificate Requirements

A certificate will only be issued after successful completion of the full course:

    •    15 hours of classroom instruction
    •    10 hours of in-vehicle instruction
    •    Minimum classroom passing mark: 80%
    •    Minimum in-vehicle passing mark: 75%

    3.    Payment Terms

Fees must be paid in full at the time of registration or before the start of each session. Certificates will not be issued until all fees are paid.

    4.    Course Materials

You are responsible for returning any books or other materials provided in good condition.

    5.    Missed Lessons

You must make up any missed in-class or in-vehicle lessons to meet ministry requirements. Missing lessons may result in no certificate being issued.

    6.    Cancellation & No Show

If you do not show up for a scheduled in-vehicle session or cancel without 24 hours’ notice, a $70 rescheduling fee will apply.

    7.    Consent for Record Sharing

You authorize Fort Auto Driving School to share your attendance and completion information with Alberta Transportation, ICC, and other related bodies, as required by law.

   8. If a student has paid in full but is unable to complete the driving lessons for any reason, a refund will be issued for any unused portion of the training.
